What is Cold Process Soap actually?

Welcome to Riverview Soapworks! We make our soap bars using the cold process method. Just what is cold process soap making you ask? Its actually a really old fashioned method of soap making that dates back thousands of years. Soap made this way can be customized down to the last ingredient and like our soap they are often made in small batches. We use food grade oils, including olive oil for skin softening, palm oil for harder bars, coconut oil for long lasting lather and caster oil for more bubbles and a silky feel. Using cosmetic grade mica, fragrances, special ingredients for exfoliation, extra cleaning or soothing for dry or itchy skin makes each batch unique. The ingredients are blended together at the correct temperature and poured into molds to set up. After 24 hours or so the soap is pulled out of the mold, trimmed and cut into bars. The individual bars are set on drying racks for 3 to 4 weeks to cure.
